A FOODBANK in Wyre Forest will have extra festive cheer this year, thanks to a generous donation from Wyre Forest District Council councillors and employees.

Christmas cake, spiced biscuits and mince pies are all included in the bumper hamper given to those in need as well as the regular donations of dried foods, pasta and breakfast cereals.

Councillor Stephen Williams, chairman of the Council, said: “We thought it would be a nice idea to have a special Christmas Foodbank collection under the Christmas tree at Wyre Forest House which was also decorated with baubles donated by council staff.”

Pastor Rob Palmer, from the Franche Community Church Foodbank, said: “Local people using the Foodbank will be able to enjoy special food to mark the season of goodwill.

“Over the festive season there will be scores of visits from and to the Foodbank from local families. Franche Community offer a delivery service which helps people who need food to be delivered direct to them.”

If anyone would like to donate food for the Franche Community Church Foodbank, there are collection points at The Hub at the Town Hall, Franche Road CoOp, Stourport CoOp and Franche Community Church, Chestnut Grove.
