RESIDENTS are being reminded that they can pinpoint the location of more than 1,200 stocked grit bins across Worcestershire easily online through an interactive map.

The salt and grit mixture is for use on the designated highway, which includes footpaths, and can be used by members of the public when temperatures drop sub-zero to help road-users and pedestrians.

An interactive map, which allows user to search via postcode, can be found on the Worcestershire County Council website. The dedicated web section also includes a similar map detailing more than 1,300 miles of designated gritting routes across Worcestershire covered by the highways teams.

Councillor John Smith OBE, County Council Cabinet Member for Highways, said: "The easy to use online search option allows people across the county to locate their nearest grit bin.

"We've got more than 1,200 stocked bins across Worcestershire and they are there to be used when temperatures dip on public roads and footpaths."

The interactive map can be found at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/gritting
