A KIDDERMINSTER pub will be racing to beat cancer to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research.

The Old Waggon and Horses pub, in Stourbridge Road, is holding a Macmillan Race Night in aid of the charity on Saturday, February 7, from 8.30pm. They chose to support the charity after an employee lost his mother to the disease last year.

To take part in the event, visit the pub before February 5 to ‘buy’ a horse for £2. You can buy as many horses as you like, which will be your horse for the night and you can on for eight races.

Neil Saunders, who runs the pub, said: “It’s a great charity and a race night is a great way to raise money. Last year, our head chef lost his mum to cancer, and the Macmillan nurses were brilliant, so we’re keen on doing everything we can to help.

“If you can’t come along on the night, but you’d like to contribute to Macmillan you can sponsor a race for just £10.

“We even have a special offer on food for the evening. There’s a three-course set menu for just £15 being served from 6.30pm, so you can have a great meal as well as a night of fun.”
If racing isn’t your thing, you can enter the quiz night that’s happening simultaneously.
