A STYLIST from a Kidderminster hair salon has been selected for the final process of the 2015 Clynol Protégé Team.

Kirby Brewer, 18, who is employed as an apprentice Luisa Butera Creative Hair in Offmore Road, has been selected as one of six members of the team.

She was given one hour to cut and style her model’s pre-coloured hair, under the eye of the judges, including clothing and make-up to compliment the look for a chance to win a place on the team, where she will endure a year worth of expert training and top experiences.

She then presented her work to a panel and spoke about how she created the desired look.

Miss Brewer said: “I had to colour the hair at the salon and then on the day I went to London to the ASK Academy and had one hour to cut, blow dry and style the hair. While this was happening the judges would come round and ask me questions and watch what I was doing.

“You had to create a look, so you had to match the clothes to her look and also do the makeup, but it was mainly about the hair. After that everyone presented individually to a panel of expert judges, and talk through the colour, cut and image.”

Miss Brewer is following in the footsteps of her manager and salon owner, Luisa Butera, who secured a place in the team in 2011 and 2012.

Miss Brewer added: “I still can’t believe I won a place on the team.

“There were so many amazing styles there, but they obviously loved my look. I’m so excited to go to London in February for a few days. I can’t wait to get stuck in and learn from the best in the industry.

“Also I’ll be following in the footsteps of Luisa. It’s an unbelievable experience and amazing training.”
