WORCESTERSHIRE County Council’s Youth Music will be showcasing some of the best young musical acts at a concert this week, including acts from Wyre Forest.

One of the eight acts performing at Hanley Castle High School in Worcester on Sunday, February 1, will be selected to represent the county at OMG Live in Birmingham.

Others who perform may be chosen to take part in professional quality music workshops. Tickets to the concert at Hanley Castle cost £2 and doors open at 1pm.

The Swallows from the Bewdley High School and Sixth Form and three bands from Kidderminster College are also taking part, including Komodo, the Blue Dive and Mirron.

OMG Live is a mini music festival for under 18s that provides bands from around the country the opportunity to perform in a high profile, professional venue alongside established acts. Last year the event was headlined by Lawson and Union J. This year’s event takes place at the LG Arena Forum on Sunday, April 19.

Brian Hoggard, head of contemporary music at Worcestershire Youth Music, said: “This concert will showcase some of the finest young rock and acoustic musicians from every corner of Worcestershire.

“For one of them it will deliver a fantastic opportunity to play on a professional stage at the LG Arena Forum in April thanks to OMG Live.

“The response to OMG and the quality of the applicants has been outstanding, making it very difficult to narrow down the line-up to just eight acts.”
