A BRAVE Kidderminster teenager who has cancer has lopped off her locks to donate to the Little Princess Trust.

Chloe Bennett, 17, from Offmore, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma two days before Christmas and is currently receiving treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on the Young Peoples Unit, a ward for young people aged 16 to 24.

Last Friday (February 6), Chloe had her hair cut and shaved to donate to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real-hair wigs to children with cancer, as she did not want to worry about her hair falling out and wished to send it to help someone else in her position, instead of throwing it in the bin.

She said: “It is unbelievable how many young people go through these hard times and now that I understand, I really want to help because I can.

“I want to help others like me, because until you are in this position you do not realise how many young people are out there fighting cancer and how much it affects their lives and the people around them. I think it is only fair that every other young person gets the amount of support and help that the nurses, the Little Princess Trust and everyone at the hospital have given me.

“The Little Princess Trust has given me a real-hair wig and I felt it was only fair that everyone gets that chance because having the wig, having someone help me with my wig and just being there to support me and advise me, has really given me lots of confidence and I don’t feel as scared as I did before about losing my hair and eyelashes.

“My hair was really quite long as I had been growing it forever.

“But instead of my hair just falling out, I wanted to use it to my best advantage and not just throw it away as it comes out, but to cut it all off myself and donate it someone that can use it.”

Chloe is also organising fundraising events to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, including selling raffle tickets with the prize draw on Saturday, March 28, and a Zumbathon at the Youth Centre in Kidderminster, on Saturday, June 13.
