MORE than 40 members of the Wyre Forest Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) gathered for their Annual General Meeting, to celebrate the branch’s first full year.

The branch now has 352 members, with more than 20 members attending each of its monthly meetings, held at various pubs throughout Wyre Forest.

Since its last AGM, the branch has organised and run another very successful Beer Festival at Kidderminster Town Hall, which attracted more than 900 people over the three days in May, raised money for the local Kemp charity and made presentations for its chosen Pubs of the Season and Pub of the Year.

Nick Yarwood, chairman, said: “The turn-out for over forty members to Wyre Forest CAMRA’s first anniversary meeting was impressive, and it shows the strong support there is for real ales locally.

“The successful Town Hall Beer Festival in May, various brewery visits during the year and meeting each month in a different pub, all add to the enjoyment for members.

“Then of course, there’s the enjoyable task of sampling beers by visiting pubs in our area – it’s a tough job, but someone has got to do it.”

They are currently preparing for this year’s Beer Festival at Kidderminster Town Hall, which takes place on May 21, 22 and 23.
