A MAN has spent nearly 40 years trying to trace his long-lost brother, after moving away from Kidderminster in the 70s.

Graham Millichap lost contact with his brother, Barrie, when he moved from Kidderminster to Weston-super-Mare with his family in 1975, and has been trying to trace him ever since.

Barrie Christopher Millichap – who was born on January 25, 1946 and would now be 69 years-old – was last known to be living in Lorne Street in Kidderminster in 1976.

When they were younger, Barrie and Graham lived in Ash Grove, on the Franche Estate.

Barrie worked for some time as a projectionist at the Futurist Cinema in Vicar Street, and at Warders Grocery Shop in Crescent Road as a deliveryman.

He was a very quiet and shy man, who tended to keep himself to himself. He had a passion for cars and large vans.

In a bid to locate Barrie, the family have researched marriage and death certificates, but have not managed to discover anything about the location of Barrie.

In desperation, Graham contacted the Salvation Army in 2004, hoping it would be able to find his brother. He was stunned to receive a letter from the charity saying his brother had died - but it turned out the organisation had found a different Barrie Millichap.

Graham said: “I last saw my brother Barrie in Kidderminster in the year 1975.

“My family and I were just about to move to Weston-super-Mare, and despite many attempts to locate him over the last ten years, I have drawn a blank.

“I would love to be reunited with him, and just hope that through the Shuttle, I may be able to find him. It really would mean so much to have contact with him again after all this time.”

Sasha Walters, Graham’s granddaughter, who contacted the Shuttle for help in tracing her grandfather’s brother, said it would mean so much to the family to find him.

She said: “My grandad lost both parents by the time he was 19 and it has always hurt him. He has traced his family tree trying to piece together all of his connections.

“For years it has hurt him so much that he has no connection with Barrie.

“My grandad is the most kind-hearted man I have ever met and would do anything for me or anyone else and if I can help him find brother that would be the biggest gift I could ever give back to him.”

Sasha has created a Facebook page ‘FIND Barrie Christopher Millichap’ in a bid to locate Barrie.
