KIDDERMINSTER singer Clark Carmody is on course to win a £100,000 record deal, following his success on last weekend’s BBC talent show The Voice.

The 27-year-old who grew up on the Spennells Estate, appeared on the show on Saturday night, singing ‘Take Me to Church’ by Hozier.

Before his performance at the weekend, Ora said she was “starstruck” by him already and had all faith that he could pull off his song.

Speaking to the Shuttle a few weeks ago, Clark, who works as a hairdresser in Stratford-upon-Avon, said he was desperately trying to get his nerves under control by singing whenever possible.

Following his performance, Ora expressed her ‘disappointment’ with the singer, but put him through to the live finals, blaming it on his nerves.

She chose Clark based on the fact he followed his gut, adding that his performance in the knock outs wasn’t the best, but past performances saved him.

The singer asked if she was sure, with Rita replying: “Of course I’m sure. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t a moment. You need to make it a moment.”

Kidderminster is behind Clark, who told the Shuttle the support has been great.

“You expect some response as its Saturday night television, I just did not realise how chuffed people would be for me” said Clark.

“It’s just a great experience and I’m taking each day as it comes.

“It’s just a brilliant experience. I am chuffed to bits.”
