POLICE investigating a machete attack in a Kingswinford park have arrested a man in connection with the incident.

The 23-year-old from Dudley was arrested on suspicion of assault on March 23 and has been bailed with conditions while enquiries are ongoing.

Officers continue to investigate the assault which happened at around 2am on Saturday March 21 in King George VI Park, High Street.

A 25-year-old man suffered serious arm injuries and was taken to hospital after being struck with a machete.

DS Adam Austin, from Force CID, said: "Initial enquiries led officers to believe the injured man and friends had been involved in disorder at a bar in Wolverhampton earlier in the evening and enquiries are continuing.

"I would appeal for anyone with information or anyone who was in the area of King George VI Park, Park Road and High Street at around 2am on Saturday to call the violence team of Force CID in Smethwick on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
