A MAN who was hit by lorry on a Halesowen dual track has died – despite frantic efforts to save him by passing motorists.

An off-duty doctor and a first aid trained air stewardess were among those who helped a paramedic restart his pulse following the accident on the A456 near the Grange Road island on Monday April 13.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was taken to the major trauma centre at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth, but police revealed on Tuesday that he had died the following day.

Grace Fletcher, who was on her way home from work with Thomas Cook Airlines, helped with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Mrs Fletcher, aged 45, of Fairways Avenue, Stourbridge, said the man had suffered internal injuries and she had been anxious to know what had happened to him after he was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

She said everyone had done their best and she was saddened by his death.

“I wish I could pass on my condolences to his family,” she said.

The accident happened at 8.40pm as the man – who has not been named – tried to cross the dual carriageway after parking his car on the roadside.
