A Netherton man who stabbed a man in the stomach after an argument in Dudley town centre has been jailed for six years.

Judge Amjad Nawaz, at Wolverhampton Crown Court, told Adam Scarlett it was a nasty unprovoked attack and it was down to good fortune the victim had escaped more serious injuries.

A Muslim organisation used its annual peace symposium in Halesowen to call for a united front against extremism.

Around 250 people of different faiths gathered at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association’s Long Lane mosque.

Among those attending were civic dignitaries, politicians, faith leaders and charity workers.

The Bromsgrove Advertiser reports on Princess Anne's visit to Blackwell.

The Princess Royal visited Blackwell Global Adventure - the outdoor activity, camping and residential centre owned by the Scout Association County of Birmingham.

She arrived by helicopter and was given a tour of the 100-acre site.

Passersby and dog walkers watched on this morning as travellers began to set up camp at Memorial Park.

It is reported that there are four caravans, two cars, and two lorries on the site.
