YOUNG people in the Wyre Forest have the chance to be recognized for the good work they have done in the district.

West Mercia Police have launched the search for Young Good Citizens 2015 in a bid to showcase good samaritans in the younger generation and help police deliver a positive message about the area's youth to the wider public.

Those aged 18 or under and who have a great spirit and are making a real difference in their community can be nominated for the Young Good Citizen certificate from their correlating Safer Neighbourhood Team.

The force are particularly keen to receive nominations about young people who have overcome challenges in their own lives and have still been able to make a difference to others in their community.

Each Safer Neighbourhood Team will nominate one person (or a small group with the maximum of three people) from their area.

Nominations are also being accepted from schools, youth leaders, members of the public, and any West Mercia employee or volunteer.

All nominees meeting the criteria will receive a Young Good Citizen Certificate from their Safer Neighbourhood Team. Ten of these (two from each policing area) along with their proposers, will be invited to a final awards ceremony at Police HQ on October 22 hosted by the chief constable and high sheriffs.

All application must be received by July 31.

Nominations are to be sent to your Safer Neighbourhood Team. Contact details can be found at westmercia.police.uk.
