WYRE Forest schools were given the opportunity to hear from current and previously successful apprentices during an information event hosted by Kidderminster College.

On Wednesday, May 6, speakers gave an overview of apprenticeships and how to apply for local opportunities.

Current Kidderminster College apprentice, Hollie Roberts gave an honest insight in to her experience.

After trying different educational routes, Hollie found her current apprenticeship the best way to progress.

The apprentice said she was delighted that she has been given the chance to study on an Open University course by her employers, providing her with “the same qualification with no debt.”

Former apprentice turned employer for apprenticeships at Vestia Community Housing, Karen Lowry-Hall also spoke about her experience of progressing through the apprenticeship route at Kidderminster College.

She said: “Apprenticeships were a route for me in to higher education.”

Students who attended were from schools in the ContinU partnership, which is made up of seven secondary schools in the Wyre Forest and Kidderminster College.
