A WOLVERLEY head teacher is celebrating the first anniversary since his appointment at the school.

Since the start of the summer term in 2014, Bryn Thomas has overseen new innovations and developments, taking Wolverley CE Secondary School forward into a positive new phase in which their ‘ambition unlimited’ philosophy has encouraged every student to fulfil their potential.

Examination results at GCSE and A Level continue to improve and the school offers a well-attended wide range of out-of-school enrichment activities.

Mr Thomas’ goal at the start of his first year was to further improve the school as a place to learn, with higher expectations and standards.

He said: “I am delighted to say that I have received enthusiastic feedback from staff, students and parents about the improvements to both learning and pastoral care, which is a great achievement for the whole team.

“Visitors frequently tell me what a fun, exciting, calm, purposeful and respectful place the school is.”
The biggest challenge in his first year has been managing change to improve the school, while other changes, such as the GCSE reform and the overhauling of the school league tables were also being made by the government.

Mr Thomas added: “Looking back on the success of my first year, the development of a clear shared vision, which everyone adopted and worked together to achieve, has been a major part of the school’s success.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed rolling up my sleeves and getting involved, meaning my relationships with staff, students and parents have been based on mutual respect.

“All this is aimed at further raising standards to gain a ‘good’ Ofsted report, which will really help to move the school towards ‘outstanding’ - something that everyone truly believes we can achieve.”
