aKidderminster Carolians made a welcome return to winning ways with a morale-boosting 43-13 win in a friendly against lower league Telford Hornets.
Early pressure enabled Tom Scandrett to open the scoring with a 25-metre penalty, cancelled by a Hornets penalty.
The hosts responded with a Rob Delahay try, converted by Scandrett, but Telford hit back with a try. Ten minutes later fly-half Scandrett went under the posts and converted and shortly afterwards Matt Rigsby powered over for a third try.
On the stroke of half time centre Nick Martin touched down, Scandrett converting.
Midway through the second half second row Alex Baldwin crossed for a converted score.
And Tom Maher finished a move with Scandrett accurate. Telford scored a late try.
KC's face Sutton Coldfield on Saturday.
l Cleobury prepared for Saturday's do-or-die relegation scrap at home to Old Leamingtonians with a 28-24 friendly win at Stourport. Replacement Brett Webster's late try secured victory after Ian King, Nick Palmer and John Hulland had crossed with James Manley adding two penalties and a conversion.
l Stourport and Chaddesley Corbett are bidding to be party poopers on Saturday when they both visit champions-elect. Stourport are at Bournville while Chaddesley are at Dudley Wasps.
Tries from sisters Laura and Cassie Romeo, the latter crossing twice, and Becky Evans, earned Cleobury Ladies a 24-5 win over Bournville. Sarita Smith converted twice.
