A KIDDERMINSTER woman celebrated becoming the fastest female at the 10th annual Acorns Triple Run.

Sarah Conway was first female past the line in a time of one hour 27 minutes in the half marathon stage of the event which saw more 1,000 runners taking part to help raise vital funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice on Sunday, June 21.

Runners of all ages and abilities descended on the Three Counties Showground, in Malvern, to raise money for the charity’s work with life-limited and life-threatened children and young people.

There was a fun, family atmosphere on the day as participants took part in a 1km fun-run, 5km woodland trail and the Malvern Half Marathon. Sponsorship raised from the event will go directly towards Acorns services, which include specialist palliative care for children and support for their families.

Laura Heathfield, events manager at Acorns, said: “Congratulations to Sarah for finishing so well. We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the event, Western Power Distribution who generously sponsored it, and those, including our volunteers who worked so hard to make it such a special day. It was fantastic to see so much support as we celebrated 10 years.”

Held to raise funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice, which operates a hospice in Bath Road, Worcester, over the past decade the Triple Run has seen more than 10,000 people raise in excess of £350,000.
