A BRAVE Kidderminster teenager who has cancer raised more than £200 for charity by organising a zumbathon.

Chloe Bennett, from Offmore, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma two days before Christmas and is undergoing treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

She organised a charity Zumbathon in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, which more than 30 people participated in and raised £220, with more donations to be collected.

She said: “The Zumbathon went amazingly well, I was so surprised how many people turned up.

“We raised £220 but we are getting more donations from people who were unable to attend, but would still like to donate.

“I never thought I would raise as much as we did, the amount of people who wanted to donate to a worthy cause is unbelievable, it really surprised me how many people were willing to help and donate.

“In total with the Zumbathon, raffle and selling bands and badges, and also a donation from Comberton Primary School, we have raised an amazing £1,696.”

Louis Oliver, a zumba instructor from Chi-Ki Monkey Fitness, who ran the event for free, said: “It was a fantastic Zumbathon, the energy in the room was great and everyone did really well.

“It was lovely to see Chloe and her family taking part and raising money for such a great charity.”

Mike Brooke, from Kidderminster and District Youth Trust, said: “We were really pleased to host such a great event where everyone came together to support Chloe with her fundraising, it was a really good afternoon where everyone enjoyed themselves.

“Thanks are due to Claudia and Matt, our young advisors, who help us run the event and to Louis for running a brilliant Zumbathon.”
