A DELIGHTED head teacher has welcomed safe crossing measures being implemented outside her Wolverley School following a campaign by parents.
Parents and pupils of Wolverley Sebright Primary School will have a permanent crossing patrol lady while Franche Road have a reduced speed limit of 20mph with flashing warning signs and anti-skid tarmac installed outside.
In September last year, the Shuttle reported how children attending the school were left to cross the busy road without permanent crossing facilities or a lollipop person.
This prompted worried parents to organise a petition that was presented to Worcestershire County Council demanding action.
Worcestershire County councillor Gordon Yarranton took up the concerns raised by both the school and the parents.
Councillor Yarranton worked with highways officers from Worcestershire County Council, who assessed the area to see what measures could be brought in.
Mrs Shelley Reeves-Walters, Head teacher of Wolverley Sebright VA Primary, said: “Our families rightly took action last year and supported the school with Councillor Gordon Yarranton to push for a safer way to cross the road outside our school.
“We are very happy with the support we have received and the changes that will take place will benefit all our families”
