A KIDDERMINSTER school’s dance club sparkled, dazzled and amazed their families and friends with a performance at Baxter College.

More than 30 children from Heronswood Primary School in years four, five and six had been practicing and refining a range of skills since joining the dance club in September. The children had learnt a number of dance styles include the jive, tango and street dance.

On the evening, some of the children performed solos, while others performed in duets and groups. In addition, there were two dances which were performed by the whole dance club.

The final group performance was a street dance titled ‘Poison’. The children wore specially designed t-shirts and make-up, which looked like poison was flowing through their veins, while special UV lights made them glow in the dark.

Physical Education teacher, Miss Ralph, choreographed most of the dances performed on the evening, but a couple were produced by the pupils themselves.

Rhoda Pierpoint, head of school, said: “Miss Ralph and the whole dance club have worked tirelessly on their performances; memorising their routines and designing costumes.

“When you see the children on stage their confidence shines through.

“We are very proud of all of them.”
