A KIDDERMINSTER student has landed a record deal with a European label and embarked on a UK tour during his studies.

Kidderminster College music technology student Jack Salter, 19, has just been signed to the Munich-based Plusquam record company, after his songs were played on national radio, including Radio One.

Along with his song writing and performing partner, Ellisha Green, they are known as Dark Before Dawn and all their songs were recorded at the college.

Mr Salter said: “By studying music technology at Kidderminster College, I understand how to record, mix and master my own songs.

“I have learnt so much from this course and now realise that although a song may be well written, it takes a lot of work in order to make the song listenable.

“I am really grateful for all the course has done for me.”

Following this, Jack has recently recorded and mixed the duo’s latest releases in Studio 1 at the college. Not only did these get air time and favourable comments on BBC radio, but he used them as part of his final submissions.

Jack achieved the highest grade, a triple distinction star – equivalent to three times A* a-levels – worth 420 UCAS points.
