HUNDREDS of students across Wyre Forest have been celebrating after finding out their A-level results.

King Charles I School celebrated another successful year with their overall pass rate increased to 98 per cent.

Students at the Comberton Road school achieved at least two level three qualifications and more than 85 per cent achieved at least three level three qualifications, with the vast majority securing their place in employment or university.

Top performers who scored three or more A* to B grades included Ben Adamson, Craig Bateman, William Cooper, Matthew Gough, Sophie Howard, Yacob Siadatan and Gracie Tapsell-Smith.

Head teacher Stephen Brownlow said: "I am extremely proud of the students and staff at King Charles I School who have worked so hard to achieve such excellent AS and A-level results.

"Examination success equates to life chances for our students who are able to pursue their chosen routes into higher education or employment.

"My thanks go to the students, their families and my staff; achievements like these are always a team effort. I wish everyone the best of luck for the future."

Wolverley CE Secondary School's head teacher, Bryn Thomas, said the school had plenty to celebrate today.

Mr Thomas said: "It's good news all round. We are absolutely delighted that all our students who wanted to go to university have secured the grades they needed.

"We have had some excellent performances from our students this year.

"All their results mean they have got what they needed to progress forward, whether this be university or apprenticeships.

"We are absolutely delighted."

Baxter College were celebrating its first successful Oxbridge entry.

Katie Beech, head of post 16 and KS5 progress coordinator, said: "Today Baxter College celebrates record A-level results and applauds its first successful Oxbridge entry in Jack Beadsworth, attaining two A*s and an A and heading to Corpus Christi College Oxford to study law.

"There was delight too for the Hunter twins. Daniel is off to Bristol to study English Literature and Philosophy after attaining A*A B, and Nathan is heading to Bath to study aerospace engineering achieving two A*s, an A and a B. 

"Abigail Downing will be studying sociology at Birmingham after achieving an A* and two B's. Emilia Sinden gaining an A* and two Bs is going to be reading psychology in Swansea. Georgia Evans achieved two A*s and a B to gain a place at Edge Hill University to study primary education.

"The class of 2015 at Baxter has shattered last year's record haul, achieving three times as many A*s and As from 2014."

Julie Reilly, head teacher at the Bewdley School and Sixth Form Centre, said it had been another good year for the school and they were delighted with their results.

At the Stourport Road school, 100 per cent of the students gained at least two full A-levels and had been accepted on a range of degree courses.

Mrs Reilly said: "It has been another good year for the school and we have got the results we were expecting which we are delighted about.

"A large number of our students already had unconditional offers for universities and colleges which is very pleasing.

"People are going on to study a range of courses from farming to engineering."

Worcestershire County Council has reported that initial data indicates, out of the majority of the schools in the county, 77 per cent of Worcestershire students achieved three of more A* to E grades.

Councillor John Campion, cabinet member for children and families, said: "Worcestershire's A-level students have yet again shown they can rise to the challenge and achieve superb performances in their A-level results.

"Improving the skills of our students is a high priority for the council as in order to be a 'world class' Worcestershire we need a 'world class' workforce.

"Year on year Worcestershire schools are improving and we are pleased to see the increasingly high results from our students.

"This year's results are a well-deserved reflection of the determination and hard work of the students, the skills of their teachers and the tremendous support of their families."
