A COMMUNITY group that supports lonely senior citizens across Wyre Forest has opened a new base in Kidderminster.

Councillor Rose Bishop, Mayor of Kidderminster, officially opened Wyre Forest Reaching Out’s new office at Florida House in Comberton Hill.

The new HQ will provide a base for manager Pat Simmonds, project co-ordinator Glen Newitt and volunteers to carry out their work from

Reaching Out works to help alleviate loneliness and isolation amongst elderly people in the district.

During the past year Reaching Out has opened a weekly Lunch Club catering for some 28 people every Monday and plans are in the pipeline to open a second session in the autumn.

The Reaching Out team also run Friendships groups in several venues in Wyre Forest as well as being closely involved with Bewdley Town Council’s "Reaching Out Together .

The group also offers handy person, gardening, cleaning, care call and befriending services.
