LENNY Henry is on a crusade for more diversity in casting BAME (black, Asian and minority ethnic) people on screen and in writing, producing and directing.

The actor and comedian, 57, told the Radio Times it is not just a matter of “another black or Asian person in Coronation Street or EastEnders”, but about hearing different perspectives on life.

An example of his campaign is Danny And The Human Zoo, the first TV drama he has written.

X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has expanded her business empire and skills to include… chocolate.

She’s teamed up with high street food retailer Greggs in a fundraising partnership with her charity, Cheryl’s Trust, to launch a limited edition product: a Belgian Chocolate Crunch Bar.

Her chocolatey treat will go on sale on September 8 and will only be available for eight weeks.

The guitarist from pop punk group Neck Deep has quit the five-piece following accusations he sent sexually explicit messages to an underage fan.

They confirmed Lloyd Roberts had stepped down from the award-winning band amid claims.

Neck Deep, who are originally from Wrexham, are placed at No 8 in the UK albums chart with Life’s Not Out To Get You and are due to play the Reading and Leeds Festivals this weekend.

The X Factor viewers are to be given even more power this year – choosing for the first time which category the judges will mentor.

A live vote will take place on Twitter while the auditions are airing in which the public will decide whether Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw will mentor the Boys, the Girls, the Overs or the Groups for the rest of the series.

And the judges may soon be campaigning on social media to ask their fans to help them land the winning category – which this year appears to be the Groups.

Celebrity Big Brother presenter Rylan Clark says this year’s line-up is so strong, even controversial contestant Perez Hilton would be intimidated by them.

Speaking from inside the newly revamped house at the official launch of this year’s show, he said of the US celebrity blogger: “If Perez was in this house, I think he’d be scared. There might be nine Perez Hiltons, you never know – there’s definitely a couple!”

Hilton’s January, 2015 stay in the house was marked by frequent clashes with British reality TV star Katie Hopkins.
