HELPING get Bums on Better Seats and raising money for another great cause, a special all-day event will be showcasing the best in local musical talent and entertaining the masses at The Civic in Stourport.

On Saturday (August 29), the mayor of Stourport, Councillor Cliff Brewer will be kicking things off at the Live Local Big Charity Event from 12noon as hundreds of people dance, sing, buy, get their faces painted, and dance some more all in aid of Cracker jack Children's Trust and the Bums on Better Seats campaign, raising money for new seats for The Civic.

Organiser, Kevin Wrench, said: "I'm a gigging local musician myself and having performed at The Civic a couple of times, I thought it would be a fantastic place to host a live music event like this. It's a bit different to performing in a pub as The Civic holds up to 400 people and has a fantastic stage, which makes it an appealing prospect for local musicians and a super venue to see your favourite local bands. We’ve booked an eclectic mix of local bands and musicians to perform during the day."

Taking to the stage on the day will be Wet Desert, Stuart Wolfenden, Johnboys Magic, The Dharma Bums, Only By Design, Mr Mind Control, Aidan Ryan, Identity Crisis, Garrington Tee Jones, Ben Green in Malar, FAITH, Tutus and Tiaras, Hannah Law, Welsummer, Ellisha Green and Only By Design and Deborah Rose.

There will also be a bouncy castle, food stalls, face-painting, fire breathing and Johnboys Magic, a troop of local belly dancers, and even a Minion.

An auction of music-related memorabilia – signed photos and a small practice amp – is also planned for the event and Kevin is appealing for items to be donated.

He said: "If anyone has music items they would like to donate to the auction, we’d be delighted to add them to the collection and raise as much money as possible for our charities."

This special family event starts at 12noon and finishes late. Day entry costs £2 and evening entry costs £6. Tickets are available on the door.
