A STOURPORT Town Councillor has been appointed as the new leader of Wyre Forest Health Concern.

At the recent Health Concern Extraordinary General Meeting, Councillor Mike Salter was unanimously appointed as their new party chairman.

Mr Salter is taking on the role from the late Nigel Thomas, who led the party for many years and oversaw its move to a permanent office in Kidderminster.

Cllr Salter said: “It is an honour to be entrusted with this position within the party.

“Although all members are independent and not subject to a ‘party whip’ we work as a team here at Health Concern and as a voice for the residents of the Wyre Forest.

“All our councillors and supporters are encouraged to ensure a full and proper debate is held concerning items that affect residents within the district.

“I shall be working to ensure Health Concern is represented at the forthcoming by-election in Kidderminster and at next year’s district council elections where hopefully we will see a return to a more balanced council where decisions are taken in the best interest of the community and not on the instructions of a political party.”
