BEWDLEY Development Trust's annual Harvest Fair will take place next weekend, celebrating the town, its buildings, history, local produce and the creativity of local people.

The free event, which will take place on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, between 11am and 4pm, is organised by Bewdley Development Trust in partnership with Wyre Forest District Council.

There will be something for everyone on offer over the weekend, from traditional attractions to special events.

On Saturday, starting at Stourport Road, a display of the popular Shire Horses will parade through the town finally arriving at the Guild Hall, as well as a performance from folk band, Soundboard, at 1.30pm and an apple hunt will take place at 2.30pm.

The popular Bewdley Harvest Soup Trail will take place between 12pm and 4pm on Saturday, when visitors will have the opportunity to sample the soups on offer at the pubs, cafes and restaurants in the town.

Being the first Sunday of the month, Bewdley's Local Produce Market will be on Load Street and on both days there will be craft and food stalls on the public space on Severn Side South, as well as guided walks, open studios, street entertainment with the Living Statue and a merry bunch of musicians and entertainers roaming the streets.

On Sunday, the fair will also host its Apple Pie Bakeoff competition from 1pm. The contest is open to anyone and all entries must be registered at the museum by 12.30pm. The principle filling must be apple and preferable if they are baked in disposable tins.

Once the pies have been judged, the Honey Boy Jones will take to the stage at 2pm and 4.15pm.

Councillor Sally Chambers, cabinet member for health, well-being and housing, said: “There is plenty to see at this free event, bring a long a deck chair and enjoy the live music in one of our prettiest parks.

“Why not take part in the Apple Pie Bakeoff?

“We look forward to seeing your entries, may the best pie win.”
