STOURPORT’S civic leader helped raise more than £3,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support in his previous year in office.

Councillor Cliff Brewer, Mayor of Stourport, presented the charity with a cheque for £3,786 that will be used to support the work it does for cancer sufferers and their families.

Macmillan was one of Councillor Brewer’s chosen charities during the 2014/15 municipal year. He is continuing in the role of mayor this year.

Kelly Whitehouse, from the charity, said: “The fantastic support Councillor Brewer and his consorts Frances and Stephanie have shown for Macmillan Cancer Support really shows in this wonderful donation for local cancer services.

“Macmillan's aim is to ensure no one faces cancer alone and, with the support of the Wyre Forest community during Councillor Brewer’s year as Mayor of Stourport, we can now ensure more people across Stourport and the wider Wyre Forest can benefit from Macmillan’s financial, emotional, practical and medical support.”
