WOLVERLEY and Cookley Historical Society have published a book written by a well-known Kidderminster historian.

Thomas Cave, who was born in 1842, was a local councillor, pattern-maker and founder of the Kidderminster Building Society and the Kidderminster Medical Aid Society.

Mr Cave wanted to write a history of the parish of Wolverley and studied the ancient documents in the library of Worcester Cathedral. The documents were in Latin, and in 1930, Mr Cave translated them, leaving a manuscript of more than 400 years of history of everyday life in the Kidderminster area from the middle ages until the time of Oliver Cromwell.

The manuscript has now been transcribed and published by the society.

The book, ‘A Collection of Documents Made Towards a History of Wolverley’ by Thomas Cave, is available to buy on lulu.com, for £10.
