A SWINGING 60s night in Kidderminster held to raise vital funds for an Alzheimer’s charity helped raise more than £1,800.

The sell-out event was held at the Gilt Edge Social Club in Oldington and featured live music from former Fortunes lead singer Schell McRae, Elvis tribute Memphis Mike, Billy Davies 60s band and comedian and singer Maxwell Plum.

It was organised by Sandy and Ken Stockton and raised £1,810 for the Alzheimer’s Research Fundraising Committee.

Sandy said: “We have been totally overwhelmed by the response. Many people have contacted us to say what a fantastic evening it was and asking when we will be doing another one.

“We want to thank all those who bought tickets and helped make the evening such a great success.

“The artists who performed free of charge, the committee of the Gilt Edge Social Club who let them have the room free of charge, Sabrina and Maureen who put on a fantastic buffet and also worked very hard all evening.

“A big thank you to all those who donated raffle prizes and to Marks and Spencer Coffee shop in Kidderminster who donated a box of six bottles of wine.”
