FOOD lovers in Worcestershire and Herefordshire are in for a treat later this month when three top quality food and drink producers give a special insight into their products at a fund-raising event near Bromyard.

Tasty Tuesday is being organised to raise funds for essential maintenance to St Michael and All Angels Church, Edwyn Ralph, and takes place on October 20 at Edwyn Ralph Village Hall.

The event, which starts at 11am and runs until 4pm, includes a talk by the members of the team at artisan butchers and pie shop Legges of Bromyard, hand crafted coffee producers Method Roastery and local cheese producers Lightwood cheeses. This will be followed by a banquet lunch using Herefordshire produce.

Liz Manning, a member of the church committee, said: “Tasty Tuesday will be an excellent all-day affair, with some of Herefordshire’s most passionate food producers coming to talk to guests. Absolutely everyone across Herefordshire and beyond is more than welcome - and we really hope to see lots of new faces on the day.

“I know it will be a great day and all the food for the lunch will be home-made using local produce. There will also be Mannings apple juice to go with the lunch.”

She added: “We’re all so excited about this special event, as our beautiful church is in desperate need of some essential maintenance. We’re lucky to have such a gorgeous church in our village with such historical significance, but even a thriving community like ours needs the help of the county to raise the figures we need to sustain it in the future.”

Tickets are priced at £20 and include the talks, hot and cold drinks and a delicious lunch at Edwyn Ralph Village Hall, HR7 4LY. The event starts at 11am and runs until 4pm. • Method Roastery, can be found at the Hop Pocket Craft Centre, Bishop’s Frome. These independent coffee roasters aim to source, roast and package the world’s finest coffees. The speciality coffees are seasonally sourced from independent growers and co-operatives.

• Lightwood Cheese is based at Lower Broadheath, near Worcester. Using traditional artisan cheesemaking methods, Lightwood cheeses are all entirely hand-made. Its cheeses range from a traditional mature cheddar to a ewe’s milk cheese and its own version of Double Gloucester.
