FIREFIGHTERS from Wyre Forest had a busy weekend with a number of call outs.

Crews from Kidderminster attended two incidents on Friday night (October 9). Crews first attended a fire in a large wheelie bin in Market Street, at 8.40pm, followed by a fire in a domestic shed in Queensway, Bewdley, shortly after 11pm.

Both incidents were dealt with quickly and no one was harmed.

A spokesman from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "The first fire involved a wheelie bin and was extinguished prior to our arrival. The area was then damped down.

"The second fire in Bewdley involved a garden shed, furniture and butane cylinders and was spread over three gardens.

"Two hose reels were ussed and the butane cylinders were removed to open air and venting off took place. West Mercia Police also attended the scene."

On Sunday (October 11), crews from Kidderminster attended approximately 20 tonnes of hay alight in Birmingham Road, at about 2.45pm.

The incident was left with owner as a controlled burn.

At around 6.30pm, Stourport and Bewdley crews attended tree cuttings and refuse on fire, in the Switchback.

A spokesman from HWFRS added: "A large amount of tree cuttings and rubbish were well alight.

"A hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire."
