A DOG is for life, not just for Christmas but if you are thinking of getting a furry friend in time for the festive season, why not give one of these canines the perfect gift of a forever home?

Twelve months ago, Ravens Rescue saved Lexi, a Staffordshire bull terrier who was used for breeding.

Kidderminster Shuttle:

In her six sad years, Lexi had eight litters of puppies and was left living outside for weeks when her owners decided they no longer wanted her.

A year on, the sweet and loving pooch still hasn’t been snapped up and volunteers at Ravens can’t understand why.

Gill Tyka, who is currently looking after Lexi said she is “no problem at all”, adding: “She loves having a lazy day snoozing in bed after she's been for a walk and she enjoys cuddles and gives great free staffie kisses.”

Kidderminster Shuttle:

Lexi is house trained and knows all of her basic commands although she does need to be an only pet.

Lexi is not the only dog looking for a ‘yappy’ Christmas, Daisy, the three-year-old Jack Russell, would also like a new home.

Kidderminster Shuttle:

When Daisy’s previous owner’s circumstances changed, they asked Ravens for help.

Daisy is described as a lively dog who loves her walks.

With careful introductions, she is good with other calm dogs and is fine with older children.

She would suit a mature, active family who love the outdoors and she would need to be the only pet.

Kidderminster Shuttle:

Marmite is a springer spaniel in need of a home where he can get lots of long walks and plenty of cuddles.

The eight-year-old is described as very loving and he gets along well with both dogs and cats.

He would be best suited to someone who is home for most of the day.

It’s not just unwanted and abused dogs that Ravens rescue, they have a number of cats looking for forever homes too.

Kidderminster Shuttle:

Scampi is 16-months-old and loves being outside and playing in the garden.

She is a friendly cat who loves a fuss and gets on well with other cats and dogs.

Kidderminster Shuttle:

Daisy (above) and Duke (below) were saved by Ravens after they were found crammed into a cat carrier and abandoned at a bus stop.

Kidderminster Shuttle:

The pair are around four-years-old and get on well with other cats, dogs and children.

They don't rely on each other for company so do not need to be homed together.
