HANDKERCHIEFS at the ready; the German supermarket chain Edeka has made a Christmas advert to rival John Lewis' Man on the Moon for saddest ad this festive season.
In the ad, which has gone viral across the world, a man, played by British actor Arthur Nightingale, gets a message from his daughter telling him that she and her family won't be able to make it for Christmas. He then sits alone at his table eating his Christmas dinner.
The pattern of him being alone then gets repeated year after year, until the man has had enough.
He fakes his own death.
When his family turn up for his 'funeral', which happens to be at Christmas, he reveals he's still alive and that the reason he did it was because there was no other way to get them all together.
Watch the advert here and have your heart ripped out.
