WYRE Forest residents are being given the chance to put forward their views on how to make the best use of Children’s Centre buildings in the future.

A consultation is underway with Worcestershire County Council which is due to conclude at the end of this month, into how the Children’s Centre buildings might be used more efficiently in order to maximise their use in the community.

Wyre Forest currently has six children's centres in Comberton, Franche, Stourport, Broadwaters, Bewdley and Birchen Coppice, and the county council is about to commission a new prevention service to support families with children aged 0-19, so the results of the consultation will be fed into the tendering process, to ensure communities receive the services they want.

Councillor Marcus Hart, cabinet member with responsibility for health and well being, said: "I would like to invite all local residents to share their views on the future use of Children's Centres. By listening to the needs of service users, we are trying to ensure the best possible support services and facilities for families with children aged 0-19 years old.

"As well as providing for current service users, our hope is that Children's Centre buildings will in future fulfil a wide range of functions that support and appeal to all members of the community. We are eager to hear from people who perhaps don’t regularly visit their local Children's Centre about what we can do to make the building as useful and appealing as possible."
