The past year has proven to be an extremely successful one for the teams of Stourport Hockey Club, with great results from both senior and junior sections within the club.
One of the standout results for the club in 2015 was that of the Men’s over 40’s team who not only reached the National final played at Lee Valley Stadium – Olympic Park, they won the entire competition.
After a successful season where the team showed great commitment, travelling to games and putting in extra training sessions the team beat 70 other teams to get to their final.
After this exceptional achievement from the Men’s team, the junior section of the club also had a very prosperous year with the Girls & Boys under 14, 16 and 18 teams reaching the regional finals, with the under 18 Girls team getting through to the National Finals.
The club was also able to boast a number of individual successes at international level with Simon Claris, Nicki Moss, Georgina Bathurst and Alex Cook all gaining international honours at under 18 level.
The club leads the way in the region; it produces the finest hockey players, with huge numbers representing the region and national age squads. The club also brings people together from all walks of life to play a really underrated sport. It’s not just youngsters and juniors, players play right through into their late 60s.
With five men’s teams, six ladies teams, junior teams from under eight upwards there is hockey for all ages and abilities.
