TRIBUTES have poured in from the world of showbusiness and beyond for broadcasting great Sir Terry Wogan, who died yesterday (January 31) from cancer.

The veteran broadcaster, known for his velvety voice on radio and television, was one of the UK and Ireland’s best known stars.

A statement from his family said: “Sir Terry Wogan died today after a short but brave battle with cancer. He passed away surrounded by his family. While we understand he will be missed by many, the family ask that their privacy is respected at this time.”

Idris won both of the gongs he was nominated for, collecting the best supporting actor in a motion picture prize for his role as a warlord in Beasts Of No Nation and best actor in a TV movie or mini-series for his portrayal of DCI John Luther in the BBC police drama.

EX-EASTENDERS actress Louisa Lytton became the first contestant to be ski-booted out of The Jump as the latest series of the reality show got under way.

Sprinter Linford Christie, former Westlife star Brian McFadden, gymnast Beth Tweddle, Made In Chelsea’s Mark-Francis Vandelli, Holby City actress Tina Hobley and ex-Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding all made it through the first round with the quickest head-to-head times in the Skeleton.

Losers James “Arg” Argent from The Only Way Is Essex, US actor Dean Cain, former EastEnders actors Sid Owen and Louisa Lytton, socialite Tamara Beckwith and Olympian Rebecca Adlington faced the Air Jump.

Louisa came last as they battled it out to get as much height as possible by jumping off the 4.5 metre kicker and landing into a giant airbag. During this event swimmer Rebecca dislocated her shoulder.

VETERAN actor Frank Finlay has reportedly died aged 89.

He starred in The Three Musketeers in 1973 alongside Oliver Reed and Richard Chamberlain. And he was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Oscars for his portrayal of Iago in Othello.

Finlay starred in popular TV series too, such as Bouquet Of Barbed Wire in 1976 – seen as one of the most controversial dramas of the era.
