THE trial of a man charged with manslaughter after a woman died from injuries sustained in a Kidderminster flat fire is due to start today (Wednesday, February 3).

Mark Moat, 42, will go before Worcester Crown Court after denying the manslaughter of Sandra Nowocinska, who died on December 1, 2014, in hospital after a fire at her flat in the Horsefair shortly before 10pm on November 27, of the same year.

Moat, of Wilkins Close, Highley, Bridgnorth, also denies two counts of arson being reckless over whether life is endangered, one of setting fire to a chair on August 23, 2014, and one allegedly leading to the devastating fire, which also trapped the 22-year-old victim’s five-year-old son who luckily made a full recovery.

His trial is expected to last three weeks.
