WALKERS and runners are being invited to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity by raising vital funds in the annual Pound the Bounds marathon.

Since launching in May 1991, the charity has responded to over 43,000 life-saving calls across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands.

It is now hoping for help in raising money for its three operational air ambulances with the event on Sunday May 1, taking entrants through the Parish of Rock and Wyre Forest.

Michelle McCracken, regional fundraising manager for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: "Pound the Bounds features routes for walkers and runners of all abilities, and is the perfect location for trail runners due to the various obstacles and uneven terrain found in Rock.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity for the charity to raise vital funds.

"As each Midlands Air Ambulance Charity mission costs £2,500, all the money raised by walkers and runners will help to fund a future lifesaving mission."

Entrants to the marathon can sign up for 26 mile, 18 mile, 13 mile, nine mile or six mile variants, as well as a three-mile treasure trail suitable for families.
