FOLLOWING the success of last year’s project, community groups and local organisations are invited to design and decorate duck houses to display in Bewdley this October.

Last year’s innovative Community Arts Project that saw 32 duck houses decorated by local businesses, organisations, clubs and schools, was hailed such a great success that it is being repeated again this year.

Once decorated to reflect the theme of businesses, organisations, activities or events, the completed duck houses will again be on display in the form of a Duck House Trail in Bewdley’s Jubilee Gardens throughout October.

Last year, the trail attracted a great amount of interest and Bewdley Museum recorded some 5,700 more visitors than its previous year.

It is hoped that last year’s winners, Bewdley Civic Society, will be preparing another entry to ‘defend their title’.

Dave Collins, Bewdley Festival director, said: “The duck houses have a new design for 2016 and are again being manufactured by local charity, the Emily Jordan Foundation, which provides opportunities for people with moderate learning and physical disabilities to participate in a manufacturing environment to develop their skills in the workplace.

“An entrance ‘fee’ of £50 goes entirely to the charity to cover the cost of materials.

“Interest has already been registered both from within Bewdley with the Great Western pub amongst early entrants, and beyond, with newcomers Kidderminster’s Swan Shopping Centre and the Wyre Forest branch of the Campaign for Real Ale joining for the first time.”

Businesses or organisations interested in taking part can contact Bewdley Festival on 01299 404808 or email admin@bewdleyfestival.org.uk for more details.
