A BIN lorry crashed into a property in Bewdley on Thursday.

Firefighters from Kidderminster, Bewdley and Droitwich fire station, West Mercia Police and one ambulance from West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the crash on May 12 at around 8.30am in Warstone Meadows.

No one was injured in the incident.

A spokesman from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Bewdley, Kidderminster and Droitwich attended the incident which involved a refuse lorry into a building.

"The stability of the building was assessed by the Urban Search and Rescue crew."

A spokesman from West Mercia added: "Police were called shortly before 8.40am to reports of a bin lorry colliding with a property on Warstone Meadows.

"Fire and ambulance services also attended, there were no reports of injury but slight structual damage was caused.

"A vehicle on the driveway is believed to have also been hit but the damage is not known at this time."

Wyre Forest District Council is now conducting an investigation into the incident.

Deputy leader and cabinet member for operational services, Councillor Ian Hardiman, said: “A full and thorough internal investigation is under way into a collision in Wribbenhall  involving a council vehicle this morning.

“Structural damage was caused to a property in Warstone Meadows when a council vehicle collecting garden waste rolled down a steep driveway.

"Thankfully no-one was injured although another vehicle on the drive was also damaged.

“Our operational services manager attended and we will be offering whatever assistance and support we can to the owners of the property.

“We hope to be able to complete the round today but would ask householders to leave out their brown bins and we will complete collections tomorrow if necessary.”
