OFFICERS are appealing for witnesses after a notorious speed camera was set on fire in Kidderminster.

The Wolverhampton Road, A449, camera, in Broadwaters, was set alight at around 11.30pm on Monday, May 30.

A tyre had also been place on top of the camera and set alight. A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crew from Kidderminster fire station attended the scene.

Two men were seen underneath the camera shortly before the incident. They left the scene on foot in the direction of Wolverhampton.

One of the men then returned with a third man and they were seen using a burning rag and a jerry-can to successfully set the tyre alight.

The men then left the scene in an unknown direction before officers from West Mercia Police arrived.

The camera was damaged during the incident and the cost of the damage is not yet known.

The first man is described as Asian, around 5ft8 and of a slim build. He is believed to be in his late twenties to early thirties, with thick, dark-coloured facial hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing a hat with a pom-pom.

The second man is described as Asian, 5ft10 and of a stocky build. He is also believed to be in his late twenties to early thirties. He was bald with a trimmed beard, and at the time of the incident he was wearing a dark coloured zip-up jacket.

The third man is described as Asian, 5ft10 and of a slim build. He had dark-coloured facial hair or wore a balaclava. At the time of the incident he was wearing a white hooded top with the hood up.
