A MOTORCYCLIST has died after a crash at a roundabout near a Bewdley golf club.

The fatal crash took place on the A456 outside Wharton Park Golf Club, in Long Bank, at around 11.30am this morning (Thursday, June 9).

The man, who is yet to be identified, was confirmed dead at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "On arrival, the man was found unconscious a short distance from his bike.

"It was the only vehicle involved.

"Sadly, his condition deteriorated and despite the best efforts of the ambulance service it was not possible to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."

A rapid response vehicle, an ambulance, a paramedic area support officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with the MERIT trauma doctor on board were sent to the scene.

A West Mercia Police spokesman added: "Police were called to a single vehicle crash involving a motorcycle at around 11.40am this morning.

"The incident took place on the A456 at the roundabout by Wharton Park Golf Club.

"The man who had been riding the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

"There was a total road closure in place at the time. But as of 3.35pm, the road was reopened."
