TEN gardens across Wyre Forest will open to the public to raise money for charity.

Kidderminster Horticultural Society is hosting its annual garden open day on Sunday, July 10, with all proceeds going to Worcestershire charities Acorns Children’s Hospice and Forest Dog Rescue.

Members and residents will open their grounds between 10am and 5.30pm.

Sue Cook, who is among those taking part in the open day, said: "There are ten gardens open this year and tickets cost just £5 each to view any or all of the gardens.

"As well as the gardens we have an all-day barbecue, coffee and hand-made cakes.

"We hope to raise about £4,000 this year from people opening their gardens and selling teas and cakes. To date we have raised in excess of £60,000."

The event follows a summer show at Holy Innocents Community Centre, Foley Park, on July 2, from 11am, which includes stalls for drinks, vegetables and flowers.

Tickets for the garden open day can be purchased from John Beard Ironmongers, in Bridge Street, Kidderminster, and also from Stourport Photo Centre, in High Street, Stourport.
