WEST Mercia's new Police and Crime Commissioner has nominated a fellow Wyre Forest councillor as his new deputy.
John Campion, who is also a Wyre Forest and Worcestershire councillor, has nominated Tracey Onslow as his new Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, as part of a new team which will also deliver better value for money.
Cllr Onslow has a proven track record of representing and improving communities for many years, both in her professional life and as a local councillor. Her appointment is subject to confirmation from the West Mercia Police and Crime Panel.
Mr Campion said: "I promised an open, transparent and competitive recruitment process which people could have faith in.
"That has been the case and I am confident that Tracey will make an excellent Deputy Commissioner who will help me realise my vision for a safer West Mercia”.
Mr Campion has also provisionally appointed some of the new Commissioner’s Ambassadors, who will provide additional links into local communities on the Commissioner’s behalf.
He added: “These posts will help ensure I am visible, accessible and engaging with people right across a very large policing area.
"The appointments I have made will help build the relationships and provide the feedback I need to help ensure I understand the needs of local communities.
“My new arrangements for the Deputy role and Commissioner’s Ambassador scheme will also save the taxpayer approximately £40,000 each year, compared to the previous system”.
