BRIE Larson has been cast as Captain Marvel in a movie, and Twitter couldn’t be happier.

The actress – who scooped an Oscar for her powerful performance in Room – will take on the role of air force pilot Carol Danvers, who gets special powers after an alien encounter, in a film to be released in 2019.

Robot Wars has made a triumphant return to television after 12 years.

The series – which was broadcast on the BBC from 1998 to 2003, then on Channel 5 until 2004 – has been rebooted on BBC Two. On social media, viewers have welcomed its return, saying the first episode was an “amazing” comeback.

Alicia Vikander has warned fans to expect a very different Lara Croft from Angelina Jolie’s gun-slinging incarnation when she takes over the role in the forthcoming Tomb Raider remake.

Based on the 2013 reboot of the video game, the Swedish actress said the 2018 film is “an origin story” and that she was learning to wield weapons other than the pistols that Angelina’s take on the adventure-seeking archaeologist had strapped to each thigh.
