CIVIC dignitaries proceeded through the streets of Bewdley last weekend as part of the Mayor's Sunday Parade.

The Mayor of Bewdley, Councillor John Beeson, was joined by members of Bewdley Town Council and Wyre Forest civic dignitaries as they paraded through the streets of the town from the Guildhall, in Load Street, to Bewdley Baptist Church.

Nick Farress, Bewdley Town Council clerk, said: "The parade was well attended by representatives from the scouts, guides, cubs, brownies, the fire service, police officers and led by the Bewdley Scout and Guide Band.

"The Mayoral party included the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, the town clerk and town councillors, who were joined by the Mayors of Kidderminster, Bridgnorth, Droitwich, Pershore and the chairs of Wyre Forest District Council, Worcestershire County Council, Wychavon District Council and Bromsgrove District Council.

"We were also joined by the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner, John Campion.

"The service was held for the first time at Bewdley Baptist Church where the Mayor, town councillors and guests received a very warm welcome from the minister, Simon Harry, with the service led by minister in training, Tom Cox.

"The church was packed with people for an uplifting hour-long service of music and prayer, with a community theme. Bewdley Town Council would like to thank Bewdley Baptist Church for hosting such a wonderful service."

Following the service, guests joined Cllr Beeson for refreshments at the Guildhall.

Cllr Beeson, Bewdley Mayor, added: "The Mayor's Parade went really well and I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

"Bewdley Baptist Church made us very welcome and the service was upbeat and energetic.

"My thanks go to everyone that took part and made the day very special."
