TALENTED young musicians will be hitting the right notes in Bewdley ahead of a popular annual festival in the town.

A Youth Music Showcase will be held at St George’s Hall in Bewdley on Saturday, October 1 from 7pm and acts as a precursor to the main Bewdley Festival, which starts on October 7.

The night will feature 10 young acts from across Wyre Forest and is one of a series of concerts run by Bewdley Youth Festival and the Music in the Hall team at St George’s Hall.

Wyre Forest Young Musician of the Year Ellisha Green, who has been a regular performer at Bewdley Youth Festival events over the past four years, will host the evening.

Among the acts she will be introducing are Hannah Law and Chloe Mogg of Wyldwood, pianist Danny Bold, MayFli, Jack Collingridge and Molly Mallinson, Emily Carrier and Megan Lock, Grace Winterburn and Abbie Foxall, Alexia and Adam of Ethereal Dawn, and Beth and Lauren.

Bewdley Youth Festival director Peter Barnett said: “For the past two years we have held our annual Youth Music Showcase during the week of Bewdley Festival.

“This year we have moved the event to St George’s Hall to take advantage of the great sound and lighting that their team are creating and also bringing it forward to better highlight the young talent of Wyre Forest.

As another departure we have asked Ellisha Green to act as host for the evening and, as well as playing her own songs she will be introducing nine other acts.

“There are some performers that regular attendees of our events will recognise – but also some new talent and we are very pleased to be collaborating with Helen Blythe, Head of Music at the Bewdley School and Sixth Form Centre on this.

“We have a few surprises planned for the night which we are sure will delight the audience - and during the Saturday and Sunday afternoons we are featuring young musicians playing in the centre of Bewdley as part of Harvest Fair weekend. Look out too for the drum workshop on Saturday in St George’s Hall.”

Tickets cost £5 for adults while there is free entry for under 18s and they can be bought in advance from www.bewdleyfestival.org.uk or from the St George’s Hall Café.
