FOLLOWING the overwhelming success of the Bewdley Harvest Soup Trail last year, it will take place for the sixth time at this year’s Harvest Fair.

The Soup Trail is organised by the Bewdley Development Trust and is one of the many events taking place in the town during the Bewdley Harvest Fair, on the weekend of October 1 and 2.

This year, six of the finest chefs in Bewdley will be competing to win the coveted Bewdley Soup Trail trophy.

A spokesman said: “Soup ‘visas’ will be available from the Deli, in Load Street, and the Bewdley Farm Shop, in Dog Lane.

“There will be 150 visas on sale before the event and another 50 visas available on the day. Once they are sold out there will not be any more.

“The visa entitles holders to get a sample of soup from each of the six participating venues, where visas will be stamped.

“Visa holders can vote for their favourite soup and place in order of preference on the visa and deposit them in the ballot boxes at the two shops – the Bewdley Farm Shop and the Deli.”

Pomodoro, which has won the public vote for the past two years, will be going for the hat trick along with the Mug House – winners in 2011 – Little Pack Horse, the Cock and Magpie, Shambles Café and Healy’s – the newest licenced café lounge in the town.

The winner will be announced by the Mayor of Bewdley, Councillor John Beeson, on Sunday (October 2). There will also be a prize draw for visa holders to win a family ticket on the Severn Valley Railway.
