A BURST pipe which left some Kidderminster residents without water for hours has finally been fixed.

Water was gushing out into Bewdley Road when the pipe by the entrance to Kidderminster Hospital burst at around 3pm yesterday (Saturday, December 3) afternoon.

Engineers from Severn Trent were called to the site and worked for hours before finally resolving the issue overnight.

The leak created a huge pool of water in the road and further traffic disruption was caused when temporary traffic lights were installed as engineers worked to fix it.

On their website, a spokesman for the company apologised to the people who had been affected by the burst main.

Initially, around 20 people had reported problems from houses in the immediate vicinity of the problem but Shuttle readers said far more properties in a number of streets saw water supplies cut off or pressure affected.

A spokesman for Severn Trent said: “We’re pleased to say that all water supplies should now be restored and that all customers should now have water back through their taps, although we know that some people may be experiencing low pressure.

“The water pipe that burst on Bewdley road has been repaired and we're now working hard to get everything back to normal.

“We'd like to thank our customers who were affected for their patience while this essential repair was carried out.

“We know how difficult it is to have no water, especially during busy times of the day and we’re very sorry for trouble caused.”
